Local Environmentalists To Celebrate Earth Day in the Context of Passover

“Green” Jewish Group Will Participate in Los Angeles Earth Day April 19th

Santa Monica – CoejlSC, the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, will take part in the annual Earth Day celebration, to take place this year on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

The celebration of Earth Day falls in the middle of the holy Jewish celebration of Passover, in which Jews around the world retell the story of the Jewish people’s exodus from slavery in Egypt. Environmentalists see many parallels between the two celebrations.

“Passover is a time to remember and respect our history, and to appreciate our freedom,” said CoejlSC Director David Rosenstein. “But we are reminded by all of the symbols of the seder that we rely on the Earth for our sustenance. That’s why the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life (CoejlSC) is a proud sponsor of Earth Day.”
